7th grade midterm study reminders

Vocabulary: Don't just memorize definitions, apply your vocab skills by using the words in sentences. Study all words, but focus on the following 20:

Figurative Language:
Practice by identifying and writing your own examples of: imagery, simile, metaphor, repetition, rhyme, alliteration, personification, idiom, onomatopoeia, hyperbole
 
Poetry: 
Be able to analyze and identify figurative language in poetry.

Informational text:
Be able to read and analyze short informational articles/ texts. You can find examples on tweentribune.com and timeforkids.com 

Writing:
Be able to differentiate all types of fiction: Historical Fiction, Science Fiction, Fairytale, Realistic fiction, Mystery/ Thriller, Myth/ Folklore.
Use a graphic organizer to organize and write a fictional story (characters, setting, parts of plot).
